Bedford Rhythm Festival 2009

Add News

The Bedford Rhythm Festival is the creation of music fan Jim Driver. The festival was first launched in 2006 and featuring acts such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Donovan, Roy Harper, and Arlo Guthrie.  It was born out of Jim’s previous bad experiences at outdoor festivals. He recognized that audiences deserved more. As he says himself, “smelly toilets and the lack of any seating – eating noodles on the hoof is an acquired skill I'd rather not have acquired! – to over-priced nasty burgers and lager bars, it invariably led to a pretty naff experience. And the music! I was fed up having to endure a never-ending crop of ‘fashionable’ bands who knew nothing about entertaining an audience and who, years later are gone and totally forgotten.”

Caterers are hand picked and price controlled, toilets and wash areas are well maintained and plentiful. There is a great line of bands on 3 stages, comedy, kids activities and plenty to do once the bands finish. Rhythm Festival is aimed at intelligent grown-ups and their families. People who appreciate good music and who want to have a great weekend away.

This years headline acts include the Proclaimers, Alabama and Gandlaf Murphy & The Slambovian Circus of Dreams to name but a few.

The festival runs from Friday August 21st to Sunday August 23rd.
