Bedford announces it's first ever Walking Festival will take place in 2009. So if you are a Bedfordshire resident walker or an enthusiastic outsider, come along and join in the fun. There are walks planned for every level from 1 mile to a more strenuous 40 miles (over 3 days).

Bedfordshire is quite a small county with a quite wide and varied landscape. The rural north of the county is likened by some to the "Wolds". The predominantly wooded area that is mid bedfordshire has some excellent ridge views and the chalk hills of the south coupled with the interesting towns and villages dotted around the county plus well marked and invariably well maintainedmake Bedfordshire an ideal location for walking.
