What is Jobcentre Plus

We are a government agency helping people move from welfare support into gainful/rewarding employment, and helping companies to fill their vacancies.  The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) governs Jobcentre Plus offices and we play a major role in assisting the Department's target to ‘promote opportunity and independence for all through modern, customer-focused services'.

Our main objectives are to:

  • Promote work as the best form of social welfare and help people regain their independance my getting them back into employment
  • Ensure fair play for all people in the community
  • For those who need help we will endeavour to pay the appropraite benefit on time and will work to eliminate fraud and abuse of the system
  • Provide good timely services to employers, which help them fill job vacancies quickly and easily with eager employees
  • Help people facing the greatest barriers to employment to compete effectively in the labour market and move into and remain in work
  • Strive to improve the quality, delivery and accessibility of our services to all
  • Ensure that people receiving benefits fulfil their responsibilities while assisting those without work to find suitable employment
  • Increase the overall productivity, effectiveness and efficiency of Jobcentre Plus
