Bedford Estate Agent Shocks the Market

A Bedford based estate agent created a mid "credit crunch" stir by actually selling not one but 6 houses in one day! The agency Lanes and Holmes, based in St Loyes Street, Bedford are over the moon about this. Partner Andrew Wilmer said: "It was the worst weather day of the year, but everything just fell into place. It was quite amusing really."

"I think it is the first time we have done that since the boom days. It started with a Canadian gentleman buying a property in Kempston and went on from there."

"We are optimistic, one or two little chains are beginning to appear where before we were selling empty houses, which means there was no kick on."

"Monday was all about the right time, the right place and the right price."

Mr Wilmer says there are signs of improvement in the housing market already this year. He said: "Prices are down, interest rates are down and people are ready to come out of their shells and get back on the ladder."
